Biography
Szymon Fedor is a Research Scientist at the MIT Media Lab with 20 years of experience in network and mobile technology, machine learning, biomedical engineering, and digital health, both in industry and academia.
His current research focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and monitoring of depression using wearable devices and smartphones. He leads several collaborative projects with Harvard University and major hospitals in the Boston area. Additionally, he heads a partnership with Samsung aimed at enhancing human well-being through personalized sleep interventions.
Before joining the MIT Media Lab, Szymon conducted research at the University of Cambridge and MIT as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow. He also worked at Ericsson and the United Technologies Research Center, where he contributed to developing commercial solutions. He holds an M.Sc. in Telecommunications with First Class Honors and a Ph.D. in Computer Science.
Szymon is the author of a book, a book chapter, and has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He also holds seven patents. He lives in the Boston area with his wonderful wife and their six energetic children.
